Leadership: Fall 2011

Harrison Moskowitz — President
Harrison Moskowitz is a SAIS MA / INSEAD MBA dual-degree student concentrating in China Studies at SAIS. Prior to graduate school, Harrison held research positions at the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) and The Scowcroft Group, an international business advisory firm. A graduate of Brown University, he is an active member of Brown’s Watson Institute for International Studies alumni association. Harrison is a native of North Carolina and is currently laser-focused on advancing in the bi-annual SAIS China Club ping-pong tournament.

Alex Bruce – Chief Financial Officer
Alex Bruce is a second-year M.A. student in SAIS’ International Development Program with an intent to also specialize in International Finance. Prior to SAIS, Alex was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rural Jordan. He is a 2008 graduate of American University where he majored in International Studies. Following graduation, Alex would like to work in private sector development in emerging markets.

Huimin Toh — VP of Alumni and Company Outreach
Min hails from the tropical city-state of Singapore. She is an MA candidate with a functional concentration in ERE (Energy, Resources and Environment) and is pursuing the International Finance specialization. She spent her entire 5 1/2 years of professional life with Singapore’s offshore wealth management division of Citibank, embarking on a rotational track. She started off in frontline sales as a Business Development Manager of the Greater China team, covering the Taiwan market. Subsequently, she assumed a more technical role as the Product Manager of Treasury, Liabilities/Assets and Investment Finance, overseeing the bank’s multi-currency portfolio. In the wake of the financial crisis, she moved on to work for senior management on compensation restructuring for the sales force. She holds an Honours degree in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Chen-chen Anita Tung — VP of Special Events and Seminars
Anita is a second-year M.A. student concentrating in International Law and International Finance. She was born and raised in Taiwan. Prior to SAIS, she attended National Chengchi University, Taipei and received her dual B.A. degrees in Diplomacy and English in 2009. At college, she served in treasury, public relations and business development leadership roles in different programs and projects. Anita embraces cultural differences and enjoys interacting with people. She has been interested in finance and investment and would like to pursue a career in financial services upon graduating from SAIS.

Adam Weinberg — VP of Workshops and Student Development
Adam is concentrating in ERE (Energy, Resources and Environment) and specializing in International Finance at SAIS. Previously, he worked as a research analyst at Realty Income in San Diego and as an assurance associate (auditor) in the financial services department at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles. He also taught English in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He holds a B.A. in business economics from U.C. Santa Barbara and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Fengchen Lawrence Guo — VP of Networking and Social Events
Fengchen Guo is a Chinese native. Before SAIS, he received a Master degree in economics and worked in a government agency focusing on debt and equity investment in high-tech companies. At SAIS, he is Latin America Studies concentrator and spends most of the time learning emerging markets finance.

Peter Gruskin — Chief Information Officer
Peter is a second-year International Finance and Middle East studies concentrator. He has written extensively on Dodd-Frank and the FDIC’s new resolution powers for banks in distress, Turkey’s Capital Markets and Banking Sector, Iran’s Oil and Gas, Tunisia’s Political-economy, Gulf Financial Markets and Islamic Finance, and Systemic Risk and Derivatives. He is also the editor of the SAIS Observer, for which he maintains a political-economy column.

First-Year Representatives

Nadiath Adechoubou
Nadiath is a first year M.A. student concentrating in ERE (Energy, Resources and Environment) and specializing in International Finance at SAIS. Prior to SAIS, Nadiath worked as an accountant with the Calvert social investment in Bethesda, MD. Nadiath is from Benin but grew up in Senegal, Togo and South Africa. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Alexander Bardack
Alex is a first-year student focusing in International Economics with specializations in International Finance and Quantitative Methods/Economic Theory. He has professional experience in the international development, financial and consulting sectors, and prior to SAIS, worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and native of San Francisco, CA.

David Fenton
David is a first year SAIS/Hopkins-Nanjing MA student concentrating in China Studies and specializing in International Finance. Prior to SAIS, David was a Teach For America Corps Member in Harlem, New York and also has extensive experience working in education and consulting in China. David is currently interning for the Department of State Shanghai Consulate economics unit. He holds a BA from Tulane University majoring in Philosophy, Psychology, with a History minor along with an MA in Teaching Elementary Education from Pace University.

Lauren Goodwin
Lauren Goodwin is a first-year MA student concentrating in International Law and specializing in International Finance. Prior to SAIS, Lauren worked with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in marketing and youth engagement strategies. She has also provided business skill assistance in rural Nicaragua. Following graduation, she would like to pursue opportunities in market entry strategy and business intelligence. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Lauren is an active triathlete and cycling coach.

Erik Hansen
Erik Hansen is a first year concentrating in International Finance and International Law. He studied English and political science at the University of Virginia, and served two internships at the Department of State before leaving the country in 2008 to teach in Okayama, Japan. He returned to the United States in 2010 and worked on contracts for the Department of Justice before entering SAIS in 2011. Erik is a creative baker and occasional eating contest champion.

Chris Hume
Chris is a first year M.A. candidate concentrating in Energy, Resources and Environment. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2003 and spent the past eight years as an officer in the United States Army. Chris is interested in facilitating private sector infrastructure investment within Southern Hemisphere frontier markets. He is also an advocate for Team RWB, a wounded veteran support network.

Napat Jatusripitak
Napat is a first year M.A. student concentrating in China Studies with an emerging market focus and pursuing specializations in International Finance and Quantitative methods and Economic Theory. He was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand but he has been in the U.S. since 2004 for high-school and college. Prior to SAIS, he attended Cornell University and received his B.A. in Mathematics and Economics in 2011. While at Cornell, he served as treasurer, event-coordinator, and co-president of Cornell Thai Association. Napat has interned at several public organizations in Thailand, including the Bank of Thailand, the National Economic and Social Development Board, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand. He enjoys playing electric guitar and doing card tricks.

Samuel Lee
Samuel is a first-year MA candidate concentrating in International Law & Organization while pursuing a specialization in International Finance. Prior to SAIS, he worked as a research analyst at Taiwan Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Council (MAPECT) – a think tank, based in Taiwan that focused on Cross-Strait M&A and PE. Samuel graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in Biology and International Relations from Tufts University.

Sarah Ralston
Sarah Ralston is a first year student at SAIS, concentrating in Latin America, Economics and International Finance. She has spent the past four years working at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in both the Financial Management Service and International Affairs Department. Originally from Charlotte NC, she lived in Baltimore, Italy and Mexico before moving to DC.

Bailey Zhang
Bailey is a first-year MA student concentrating in ERE and pursuing a specialization in International Finance. Born in China and raised in Canada, Bailey attended the University of Toronto and received a B.A. in International Relations. Prior to SAIS, Bailey worked in Beijing as an account manager at Renren Inc., a website similar to Facebook and the largest social network company in China. He became interested in the finance sector through working with clients from the industry and would like to pursue a career in investment banking after SAIS.

Second-Year Advisory Team

Catherine Chen
Catherine Chen is an MA candidate concentrating in China Studies and International Finance. She graduated from Wellesley College in 2007 with a BA in political science. After graduation, she campaigned for Hillary Clinton for President across eight states. A year later, she joined a media non-profit in DC to continue contributing to the political discourse through the 2008 election cycle. After the election, she worked for Congressman Barney Frank, former Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, during the healthcare and financial reform legislation period.

Jerome Ingenhoff
Jerome is a second-year MA candidate who spent his first year at the SAIS Bologna Center and concentrates in International Finance and ERE. A dual citizen of Germany and Switzerland, he obtained his B.Sc. in International Economics and European Studies from the University of Tuebingen in Germany. Jerome has interned in several private sector firms in banking, advisory and public relations. His favorite pastimes include playing percussion, trying foreign food and learning languages. After graduating from SAIS, Jerome aims to pursue a career in financial services.

Marcus Watson
Marcus is a second year MA student from the UK concentrating in International Development and International Finance. Prior to SAIS, he practised as a corporate lawyer in London. He has also spent time working in impact investing and microfinance in Kenya and Tanzania respectively. He is also Vice President of the Student Government Association.
