UPCOMING OFF-CAMPUS EVENTS

Sep. 8: “Financing education for the developing world through 2030 and beyond” – In July, world leaders, education experts, and civil society counterparts met in Oslo, Norway for the Oslo Summit on Education for Development. The Summit aimed to strengthen the level of cooperation and commitment in key actors to ensure that all children have access to a good quality education. A recent Brookings report,’Financing Education: Opportunities for Global Action,’ prepared as a background input for the summit, explores how the basic education targets could be financed based on an analysis of education resources over the previous decade. In honor of International Literacy Day on September 8, we invite you to join the Center for Universal Education at Brookings to discuss how to achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and improve funding for education in developing countries. Norwegian Ambassador to the United States Kåre R. Aas will provide keynote remarks, followed by a presentation from Liesbet Steer, fellow at the Center for Universal Education and lead author of the Financing Education report. A panel discussion will follow. After the discussion, the panelists will take questions from the audience. For more information click here.
