Feb. 2: “The Future of Oil Markets” Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni will discuss this topic. This event is off-the-record. Monday, 12pm. Kenney Auditorium. Members of the public and media should RSVP here.

Feb. 4: “Crude Oil Price Implosion: Causes and Consequences” The sharp decline in world oil prices since June 2014 is a gain for consumers but a cause of distress for the oil industry and oil producing countries. SAIS graduate Bob McNally will discuss: What are the causes? Has OPEC changed policy by not changing its quotas? What are the impacts on the industry and geopolitics? How long is the decline likely to last? Wednesday, 4:30 PM. Rome Auditorium/Reception. Members of the public and media should RSVP to ERE program at SAISEREGlobal@jhu.edu.


Feb. 2: “Global Effects of the Oil Price Crash” – On February 2, the Energy Security and Climate Initiative (ESCI) and the Center for Middle East Policy (CMEP) at Brookings will host a discussion on the collapse of global oil prices and its resounding impacts around the world. Panelists will include ESCI Senior Fellow Charles Ebinger; Clifford Gaddy, senior fellow in the Center on the United States and Europe; CMEP Senior Fellow Suzanne Maloney; and Harold Trinkunas, director and senior fellow in the Latin America Initiative at Brookings. ESCI Acting Director and Fellow Tim Boersma will moderate the discussion. For more information click here.

Feb. 3: “Strengthening the Financial Security of America’s Working Families: A Conversation with Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi” – the Center for Effective Public Management at Brookings will host Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to share her perspective on critical decisions made by President Obama and congressional Democrats to rebuild the economy, and assert the vital need for a dedicated focus on the financial security of America’s working families.
