First year students – see below for details on becoming a member of the Finance Club’s leadership team. If you’re interested becoming an officer, let us know by 12/7. Elections for contested positions will be held later this month.

On Thursday (12/6) at 12:30pm, Professors Brown, Eichner and Leeds will be discussing/debating the Dodd-Frank Act. Don’t miss your chance to get a crash course on what is an admittedly complex, but hugely relevant subject. Lunch will be served for all those who RSVP to Erik Hansen (additional details below).

Last week was a busy week for the Finance Club. On Tuesday we hosted former MIPP student Andree Brands and current MA student JP Blardony, who gave a great presentation on careers in Investor Relations. Blending finance, communication and marketing, Investor Relations plays an integral role in conveying news and information between companies and the financial community. Thank you to Andree and JP for sharing their insights, and thanks to Valerie Gadala-Maria and Kevin Pang for putting together the event.

On Thursday the club co-hosted the first annual Finance/Consulting Club Trivia Night. More than 65 people attended! Thank you to everyone who participated, and to the following people who did a great job planning and hosting the event: Napat Jatusripitak, Sara O’Rourke, Samuel Byrne, Martin Soler, and Stephanie Maneles.

Finally, good luck to everyone participating in the 2nd Annual Speed Interviewing Event tonight!

ELECTIONS FOR CLUB LEADERSHIP

Do you want to be a part of the incoming Finance Club leadership? If you’re a first year student (MIPP and PhD students are also welcome) that wants to take a leading role in shaping the future of the club at SAIS – this is your chance. Please email the club with your resume and statement of interest that specifies which position you’re interested in by COB 12/7. Elections will be held the 2nd or 3rd week of December. Descriptions of current club leadership positions are available here (position descriptions can be modified based on interest). If you are considering the role of club president, please reach out to Sarah Ralston to set up a time to chat in person about what the position entails.

A background in finance is not necessary to be part the leadership team. We’re looking for bright, creative, and dedicated students that have an interest in the field and are willing to work as a team to continue raising the profile of finance at SAIS.
