Tuesday (11/27)

  • 5:00pm: Deadline for Trivia Night teams – submit your application ASAP – we only have room for 4 more groups
  • 5:30pm: Careers in Investor Relations – Andree Brands and JP Blardony will discuss a SAIS-relevant career path in finance that you might not have previously considered
  • 11:59pm: Speed Interview Event application deadline – submit your resume and a brief statement of interest to apply

Thursday (11/29) 7:00pm: Finance/Consulting Club Trivia Night – Event begins just after 7:00 and trivia starts at 8:10

Monday (12/3) 6:00pm: Speed Interview Event – this is your chance to hone your interview skills with alumni working in finance, don’t miss the opportunity

Thursday (12/6) 12:30pm: Dodd-Frank Roundtable – mark your calendar now to see Professors Leeds, Eichner, and Brown simplify the complex

–Your SAIS International Finance Club Leadership


Do you want to be a part of the incoming Finance Club leadership?  If you’re a first year student (MIPP and PhD students are also welcome) that wants to take a leading role in shaping the future of the club at SAIS – this is your chance.  Please email the club with your resume and statement of interest that specifies which position you’re interested in by COB 12/7.  Elections will be held the 2nd or 3rd week of December. Descriptions of current club leadership positions are available here (position descriptions can be modified based on interest).  If you are interested in the role of club president, please reach out to Sarah Ralston to set up a time to chat in person about what the position entails.

A background in finance is not necessary to be part the leadership team.  We’re looking for bright, creative, and dedicated students that have an interest in the field and are willing to work as a team to continue raising the profile of finance at SAIS.


Nov 27: Careers in Investor Relations – The Finance Club is excited to host former MIPP student Andree Brands and 2nd year student JP Blardony, to discuss career opportunities for SAIS students in the field of investor relations. The event will take place in N417 between 5:30 – 6:30pm. Please email Kevin Pang or Valerie Gadala-Maria to RSVP.

Nov 29: Finance and Consulting Club Trivia Night – Mark your calendars now for a night of fun and trivia in Kenney Auditorium as the members of 2 heavyweight career clubs at SAIS battle for trivia supremacy.  Pizza will be served and surprises/prizes/fun will ensue.  Doors open after 7:00pm and trivia starts at 8:10pm. Trivia topics will include all things SAIS, Consulting, Finance, and much, much more. If you don’t want to compete, bring a six-pack or a bottle of wine (SAIS BYOB rules are in effect) and watch the show! The event has space for 4 more teams (all are welcome to watch) – so make sure your team, sign up your team of 3-4 people now!Hard deadline for team signups is Tuesday, November 27 at 5:00pm

Dec 3: Opportunities in International Affairs at the US Treasury Department – Career Services will host members of the IA Recruiting Committee to provide an overview of the full-time and internship opportunities available.  The event will take place in the Career Services Conference Room from 12:30 – 2:00pm.  RSVP in SAISWorks.

Dec 3: International Finance Club’s 2nd Annual Speed Interviewing Event – The club is excited to host SAIS alumni on campus for an evening of speed interviews and networking. Don’t miss your chance to practice mock interview with local alumni boasting experience in banking, multilateral investment, project finance, fund management, private equity, and more. The event will take place from 6:00 – 8:30pm in Kenney Auditorium. Space for students wishing to interview is limited so apply ASAP (we had to turn people away last year) by submitting your resume and a half-page statement of interest to saisinternationalfinance@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting your application is 11:59pm tomorrow night (11/27). All SAIS students are encouraged to apply.  A networking reception with food and drink will follow.

Dec 6: Dodd-Frank Roundtable Discussion – The SAIS International Finance Club will host Professors Leeds, Eichner, and Brown in a roundtable discussion on Dodd-Frank and its effects on the financial industry.  Professor Eichner is the Deputy Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Board and teaches Derivatives here at SAIS, and Professor Brown is a partner in the Leveraged Finance Group of Milbank, a securities law firm based in New York, and teaches Financial Regulation at SAIS.  Light refreshments will be available, and students are encouraged to bring their lunch.  The event will take place from 12:30 – 2:00pm in N517. Please RSVP with Erik Hansen.
